These Signs Shall Follow Them That Believe
3/20/2020

When Jesus spoke those words some 2,000 years ago, did He mean them or didn't He? If he did, why are so many "followers" of Christ living in fear?

We need to understand that our words are not enough when it comes to being follower of Jesus. We need to be "doers" of the word and not just hearers. Consider some of these passages from God's Word:

James 1:22 (KJV)

22  But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

Here's Jesus on the subject:

Mark 16:15-18 (KJV)

15  And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
16  He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
17  And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
18  They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
19  So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.
20  And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.

Mark 11:22-26 (KJV)

22  And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.
23  For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
24  Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
25  And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.
26  But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.

Here are just a few more passages from Jesus for reference:

Matthew 29:18-20

Matthew 21:21-22

Matthew 21:28-32 (Here Jesus teaches clearly that our words are meaningless UNLESS we back them up by action!)

Just a few more verses...

Romans 8:13-15 (KJV)

13  For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
14  For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
15  For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

Hebrews 13:5-6 (KJV)

5  Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
6  So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

Romans 8:31 (KJV)

31  What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

Finally, I'll leave you with this:

1 John 4:17-19 (KJV)

17  Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.
18  There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
19  We love him, because he first loved us.

Remember, God will look after His own. So trust in Him and not in unrepentant sinners who may have an agenda contrary to God's.

Keep looking up!
